Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 double XP weekend starts today

To get you all geared up for the Vengeance DLC pack, Treyarch has flipped the switch to allow double XP on all Black Ops 2 multiplayer modes this weekend. It starts today on June 28th (10am PST/6pm GMT) and ends July 1st (10am PST/6pm GMT) and you can drink it in on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.

 

If you’re unfamiliar with this kind of event, let us explain. Every action you perform in Black Ops 2 multiplayer is rewarded with XP (eXperience Points), which gives you access to bigger and badder weapons and perks. If you play during the double XP you’ll grab extra points and level up quicker to open more of that deadly arsenal on offer. Easy.

In theory, Xbox 360 players should be fully boosted for the Vengeance DLC launch, which happens the day after the double XP weekend closes. Here’s what you can expect……

Etoo event brings alternative E3 show to London

Sony-sponsored event will feature guest speakers, live-streams and more

Between June 10th and 13th, E3 will be coming to London in the form of an alternative event know as Etoo. The idea is the brainchild of veteran games industry writer, Keith Stuart (The Guardian) and developer Georg Backer who decided to hold an event in the UK for those unable to jet off to the U.S of A.

The sold-out event is taking place at London’s Loading Bar and will live-stream all of the press conferences taking place at E3. There will also be guest speakers on each night including Joe Danger developers, Hello Games, playable demos of Duck Tales HD and Lost Planet 3 from Capcom and event sponsor Sony will have The Last of Us for people to play.

PlayStation 4 gets PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that two of its PC MMOs will be available for PlayStation 4 later this year. PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online are both free-to-play, with players able to purchase items via digital download in-game if they want.

PlanetSide 2 is a first-person shooter which pitches different factions against each other across vast, open-world battlegrounds.

The Last of Us Season Pass DLC detailed

Sony has detailed the Season Pass (€19.99) DLC for upcoming survival horror game, The Last of Us. The announcement made via the PlayStation Blog not only confirms that digital pre-orders of the full game are now available, but also that there will be three DLC packs coming after the launch on 14th June.

Here’s what Season Pass buyers get on day one…

  • Increased crafting speed
  • Increased healing speed
  • 9mm reloading speed upgrade
  • Rifle clip capacity upgrade
  • Grounded: An exclusive 90 minute documentary on the making of The Last of Us

Fresh selection of weapons, outfits, and battles hits PlayStation Store

Another delivery of Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory DLC hits the PlayStation Store this week, with the European and US Stores both getting a different selection of new content.

Here’s what’s new on the EU PS Store:

  • Ghost Fighter (Free): A battle against those turned into ghosts by magic awaits. To access, the Colosseum must be unlocked
  • Neptune/Nepgear’s Weapon β (£0.79/€0.99): A weapon set for Neptune and Nepgear. The weapon designs match other content, but the attributes are different

Grid 2 DLC plans detailed, first 3 car packs confirmed

As racer’s release date rolls around, Codemasters commits to six months of DLC

With the release of Grid 2 fast approaching – it’s out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 28/31 May in US/EU respectively – developer Codemasters has offered the first details on its DLC schedule for the game.

The first Grid 2 add-on content will consist of the previously revealed pre-order DLC, which Codemasters says will be made available for purchase separately after Grid 2 has launched. This will be followed by the first DLC – the Super Modified Car Pack – at the end of June, and then Codemasters is hoping to release new DLC every month until October.

The first three confirmed add-ons are:

  • Super Modified Car Pack – June
  • Drift Car Pack – July
  • Peak Performance Car Pack – July 

Codemasters stresses that these dates are subject to change, as the content is currently in development.
