Borderlands 2 Sir Hammerlockʼs Big Game Hunt DLC Review

More of the same with a side of bug trouble

Although the part-robot, all gentleman, Sir Hammerlock gets his name above the door in this beast hunting DLC package he barely features throughout. Sure, he provides some of the missions and comical quips as you lay waste to wave after wave of colourful nut jobs, but Hammerlock is a mere passenger. The star of the show here is Professor Nakayama, but we’ll explore his madness later.

The premise is this: Sir Hammerlock invites you to the Hunter’s Grotto deep in the valley of Aergus to help him track down some giant beasts. First thing of note is that it’s relatively short. Focus on the main missions and you’ll fly through the story in about two hours. But like the finest filet mignon, there’s barely any fat to get in the way so you can get enjoy the small yet delicious main course.

Unlike the majority of Pandora’s brightly coloured areas, …

Randy Pitchford confirms more Borderlands 2 DLC is in the pipeline

Info spotted as Gearbox Software CEO responds to Twitter user

Hello, what’s this then? Even more Borderlands 2 DLC is on the way, you say? Well, that’s just excellent news…

So that’s a level cap rise, possibly a new 6th character AND more campaign action. Sweet. Well, sort of. Pitchford has already been quoted as saying there will be ‘non-season pass related content’, so this means current Season Pass holders will have to fork out even more money. Dang.

Doesn’t quite seem fair does it? Brings up the curious question of whether Season Passes are actually worth it. Still, new Borderlands 2 content is always welcome even if we’re not sure about the pricing structure for it.…

PlayStation 4 will instantly allow you to play games as you download them

Download and update games while the power is switched off

During the Sony presentation for PlayStation 4, lead system architect Mark Cerny announced that DLC and software updates will work in the background or even when the machine is switched off. Witchcraft? Not quite, it’s the secondary custom chip inside PS4 that allows background downloads to take place.

Mr Cerny explains it better…

‘PlayStation 4 also has a secondary custom chip that manages uploads and downloads. As a result it’s possible to download or update games in the background, or with the main power off. One step further – on PlayStation 4 digital titles are playable while being downloaded. When you purchase a title you download just a fraction of the data and the rest of the data is downloaded in the background as you play the game’

In layman’s terms, when you, for example, select to download Grand Theft Auto V you’ll be able to jump straight into the …
