Some decent PS3 deals, not so many for the Vita though

The PlayStation Store’s seemingly annual Spring Sale is live right now on the European PS Store. As sales go, it’s pretty huge, but a bit of a mixed bag (and only 1 Vita game?). However, there are some decent looking discounts on some decent games – for PS3 Driver: San Francisco, Child of Eden, the PixelJunk series, and Trine 2 are particularly tempting, while the Persona games are definitely worth a look for anyone still rocking the PSP. If you see something you fancy, grab it before 9 April, when the sale ends.

Pre-order for the chance to play an extra hard version

Pre-order bonus details for upcoming nuclear shooter Metro: Last Light have been announced by the game’s new publisher, Deep Silver (who picked up the title during the THQ clear-out sale). Anyone who sticks their name down for a copy at a participating retailer will get free access to Ranger Mode DLC, which removes the HUD (depriving the player of visual assistance, offers a greatly diminished supply of ammo through the course of the game, and is described as being ‘Hardcore – The way it was meant to be played’.

But it’s not all take, take, take – Ranger Mode gives players access to a special AKSU Russian assault rifle, and also 100 in-game military grade bullets, which can be used as bullets to shoot enemy, or as currency to buy stuff.

If you’re not the pre-ordering type, don’t panic – the Ranger Mode DLC will be available at launch, but …

Yes, you can now ride dragons. No, itʼs not as fun as it sounds

Like all the best things in a Bethesda game, especially for oft neglected PS3 owners, Dragonborn makes you work for its love. We spent a while wandering around Windhelm with anticipation, waiting for some sign that ‘new things’ would happen. Thankfully, it wasn’t long before we were set upon by a gang of priests in spiky masks, angry at our supposedly false claim of lineage to the great fire breathing monsters of the sky.

A quick fight and a brief rummage for clues inside their clothes later and we had our destination: a boat to take us across the sea to the new land of Soltsheim. Our quest? To seek out Miraak who has plotted our demise.

Siege, Predators, Survivor, and Onslaught available now as a single download

If you’ve held off buying any of the Resident Evil 6 multiplayer add-ons, then you might be interested in this handy ‘Mode Bundle Pack’, which is available to download now (file size 449.9MB) on the PlayStation Store,priced £7.99/ €9.99/$9.99.

The pack, which includes Resident Evil 6’s four multiplayer mode add-ons – Predators, Survivor, Onslaught, and the recently released Siege, arrives as part of the latest PS Store update. You can find full details of the update at the PlayStation Blog.

Naughty Dog not looking at expanding single-player mode post release

Developer Naughty Dog is only going to be offering multiplayer DLC for its upcoming PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us, and doesn’t currently have any plans for expanding the single-player story.

In an interview with EvolveEnt, Naughty Dog’s community strategist, Arne Meyer, said “DLC for The Last of Us is only going to be multi-player focused. We’re not looking at single-player DLC. It’s really simple – we wanted to make sure that we could throw everything that we wanted to into the game and that everything was really at the level of quality that we always want to put in.?

From expensive expansion to fully fledged sequel

Hey, remember when former THQ president, Jason Rubin said that the next Saints Row should ditch the gags and become as serious as Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim? We do. We also remember thinking that without the humour Saints Row would be a load of old bum, and it seems new publisher Deep Silver thinks the same. Enter Saints Row 4 – out August 23rd – and a launch trailer that laughs in the face of seriousness.

Surprisingly, this fourth installment started life as a big-budget cut of DLC for Saints Row 3 called Enter The Dominatrix, but it’s been fleshed out to provide a brand-new game full of super powers, Tron-cycles and men in combat gear doing ‘the robot’. Take a look at this…
