Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara – Elf trailer is agile

Here’s another Class trailer from Capcom’s Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, which is heading to XBLA, PSN, and Wii U eShop in June. This time we get to see the Elf in action, doing sword and magic and bow and arrow stuff with great agility, and also making her hair woosh vertically into the air, which is very impressive.

Elf is the third Class trailer, with the Cleric and Fighter already showing us what they’ve got.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is scheduled to arrive in June for PSN and Wii U eShop, priced £11.99/€14.99/ $14.99, and Xbox Live, priced 1200MSP (£10.28/€14.40/$15).…

Double XP for everyone, PS3 players can level-up before Uprising DLC arrives

Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch has announced that Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers will be able to enjoy a weekend of Double XP, starting today, and running until Monday, 13 May. Here’s Treyarch saying it on Twitter:

The Double XP weekend starts today, 10 May, at 10am PDT (6pm UK time), and finishes at the same time on 13 May.

The Double XP weekend is happening ahead of next week’s release of the Uprising DLC on PS3, so gives PlayStation players a nice opportunity to level-up before taking it to the new maps. The Uprising DLC, which released last month as a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, is out for PS3 on 16 May, priced $14.99. UK price still tbc, …

7 exclusive Call of Duty Zombies mode ideas that we thought of

Call of Duty’s Zombies mode is the most popular mode because gamers love to shoot zombies in a variety of exotic locations, like on the Moon, in the Pentagon, at Alcatraz, and even Europe. Gamers also love being a famous person like Fidel Castro, Sarah Michelle Geller, or Michael Madsen when shooting zombies. Here are some exclusive new Zombies mode ideas that we thought of:

Hellavator

Taking place inside an elevator, this map is small and square-shaped. When the game begins the elevator is floating in space and players must find all the necessary items needed to construct a space station. When the space station is finished the players can escape from the elevator. But the space station is also full of zombies.

Awards Ceremoany

Zombies spawn from the rectum of a giant Oscar statue suspended horizontally by wires high above the auditorium map. Ben Affleck’s Beard is a new Wonder Weapon that fires snozzle-dust, Adele’s tears, and self-congratulation. You …

New Tomb Raider ʻShipwreckedʼ DLC release date confirmed

The previously announced Shipwrecked Map Pack Tomb Raider DLC will be arriving on Xbox Live next Tuesday, 7 May. Rather than being officially announced by Square Enix, the date has appeared on Xbox.comas part of the Xbox Live Gold Unlocked Weekend, which is happening now in the UK. Look, we took a picture:

The Shipwrecked Map Pack contains the following two new maps:

  • Lost Fleet: A massive beached ship serves as a dangerous battleground filled with twists, turns, and traps
  • Himiko’s Cradle: Danger lurks around every corner in this mountain top shrine. The area is sacred to the scavengers and will be your final resting place if you are not careful

The Shipwrecked Map Pack is confirmed for PS3, but no release date yet beyond ‘early May’. Price also still to be confirmed, although we expect it’ll be in line with the 1939 Map Pack – 320MSP (£2.74/€3.84/$4), or £2.39 on PS Store.…

GTA V: We look at how much crime is in the new trailers

How much crime is in the new Grand Theft Auto V character trailers? That’s what we wanted to know so we thought we’d find out by counting and finding out. Here’s what we found out:

Michaelʼs trailer

Crime #01: Running in the bike only lane

Opening shot is of crime, a minor one but still a crime. The two runners are clearly exercising in the bike only lane. The guy on the bike is not committing a crime, unless he’s cycling in the pedestrian only lane, in which case the police would be allowed to Taser him.

Crime #02: Domestic violence

You are not allowed to be violent on someone, even if it is a member of your own family and you’re in the privacy of your own home. It is a crime. Michael’s daughter could press charges after this incident, although we suspect she’ll take it no further than stomping off to her room in a sulk. …

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Review

First things first – what the hell does Blood Dragon have to do with Far Cry 3? Give it a cursory glance and you’d have to say not a lot. It’s post neon-bomb apocalypse, with blue goo for blood, and – yes – it does have laser-eye enabled dragons which can explode helicopters out of the sky for fun. But once you start playing the similarities smash you in the face like a Shoryuken from the fist of Captain Obvious.

This standalone XBLA and PSN spin-off is an open-world shooter set on an island chock-full of systemic emergent gameplay (exciting random stuff happens!), dynamic wildlife (animals behaving like animals!), procedural fire propagation (dangerous burning stuff spreads!), and so on. It’s built on the same technology as Far Cry 3, so it’s no surprise the two share much of the same hard-on geekery.

There are also the enemy camps, the zip-lines, the bow, the vehicles… and so on and so on …

Skullgirls gets Eliza as third DLC character as PayPal play the bad guy

Skullgirls developer, Lab Zero Games has announced that Eliza will be the third DLC character to come out of the successful crowd-funded project. This is great news for the indie developer and fans of the 2D beat ‘em-up, but there’s a dark side to this story too – enter the unlikely pantomime villain of PayPal.

Yup, according to VG247 the online payment empire told Lab Zero Games that they weren’t prepared to offer any potential refunds to IndieGoGo backers of extra Skullgirls content. Basically, the majority of folk donating money use PayPal – a whopping $700,000 of $829,000 – and in an unprecedented move told the developers that they were withholding the cash until they could reach an agreement on refund – PayPal arguing they shouldn’t have to pay out.

The ramifications of such a move meant that the developers were unable to be paid for their hard work on Skullgirls, which sucks. But after Lab Zero Games CEO, Peter …

Need For Speed Most Wanted Terminal Velocity DLC Review

It’s all airplane sailing for Criterion’s beefy expansion

Goliath queues at check-in, overly touchy-feely frisks at security, extortionate duty-free Toblerone; real airports suck. But in console land, we’re head over heels for those glorified shopping centres where jumbo jets occasionally live. And that’s all thanks to Need For Speed: Most Wanted’s Terminal Velocity DLC, the most expansive, well executed add-on Criterion has made for its addictive open-world racer.

Grafting a sizable airport and a GTA San: Andreas-style plane graveyard to the game’s map immediately injects Most Wanted with a whopping dose of personality. One of the main criticisms laid at Criterion is that Fairhaven City feels a tad sterile.

While brilliant fun to power-slide about, Most Wanted’s metropolis lacks the breezy charm of, say, Burnout’s Paradise City. Yet strap some drift tyres to this add-on’s newly tinkered Porsche 918 Spyder and EA’s speedster finds the fun like never before.

Whether smashing a Mustang against the security gates in the departure …

GTA 5 screensaver reveals possible new character, more news hitting April 29

Is this the face of the Epsilon Program’s Cris Formage? Probably

Through the medium of a desktop screensaver, Rockstar Games appear to have introduced a new character for the hotly anticipated, GTA V. The mysterious slideshow – that is downloadable from here –  is brought to you by the Epsilon Program – the Scientology-esque group, which were first spotted in San Andreas.

Among the facts about how ‘everyone is related except people with red hair’ and the ‘world is 157 years old’, that character above slips by too. He’s most likely, cult leader, Cris Formage who was originally voiced by Fred Melamed.

On top of this, Rockstar’s Newswire blog post signs off with the not-so-cryptic ‘directions will be provided in one week’s time’, which hints that more GTA V news is set to drop on April 29th. So put that in your diaries, folks.

Oh, and as the internet is full of clever folk, some genius has managed to …
