Metal Gear Rising VR Mission DLC is out next week, even more on the way

The first chunky piece of DLC for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has finally been given a release date. The VR Mission pack will launch in Europe on March 13th  and adds 30 virtual reality challenges for Raiden to cut through. For newcomers to Metal Gear, VR missions are somewhat of a series hallmark and provide scenarios for you to overcome using your mega-gaming skills.

As we’ve previously confirmed the next two sets of DLC to follow will be story-based. Jetstream focuses on Sam (AKA Cyborg Ninja) and uses him as a playable and ‘Bladewolf’ unfurls the story of Raiden’s trusty robo-hound, LQ-84i. No date has been given for these yet, but we’ll keep you posted.…

Assassinʼs Creed 4: Important pirate facts Ubisoft should know about

The fourth Assassin’s Creed game was announced recently. It’s called Assassin’s Creed 4: Pirate Hats and is about someone called Edgar Conman – he’s a time-travelling pirate assassin who has knives where his hands should be. He’s like Dr Who crossed with Edward Scissorhands crossed with Captain Pugwash. The aim of the game is to find one of Edgar’s relations who lives in the future. Once you’ve done that you’ve won the game.

Anyway, we know a heck of a lot about pirates and there are a few things we think Assassin’s Creed developer Ubisoft should know about to make sure they make the most historically accurate game possible. This is what we know about pirates:

Some pirates had two wooden legs

If you were a pirate during the early 18th Century it was desirable to have at least one wooden leg as it was a mark of a good pirate. However, having a wooden leg became so popular amongst …

The podcast with no name – Pilot Episode

Right then, Cundy and Nathan have gone and done one of them podcast things. The results can be heard below, but just so you know – and as the title implies – it’s just a little taster for y’all.

If anything, it was only to test to see if the iPad was capable of recording with decent enough quality, which thankfully it does. There’s no fancy studio for the men that produced the GamesRadar UK podcast this time, you see, but they ramble on regardless.

After this podcast – which still doesn’t have a name – we’ll aim to have a new show every fortnight. The contents are still undecided, but will most likely be about video games rather than, say, films or canasta. So go, have fun listening to this debut and let us know what you think via our Twitson. Enjoy.…

Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC review

Narrative-driven content that should’ve been on the disc originally? Hmmm…

As a piece of DLC, From Ashes is a difficult thing to review. Mass Effect’s allure comes from seamless story-telling, so to judge the worth of this DLC you have to consider the impact it has on the overall story – not just how good the extra mission is. It’s also difficult to review because ‘day-one DLC’ is always a controversial move. Because as you’d expect from this term, the content is available from pretty much the beginning of the game.

Responding to a distress call from a human colony, you quickly realise that Cerberus are up to their usual galactic tomfoolery. This time they’re after a real, live Prothean who’s been in stasis for the past 50,000 years. Naturally, it’s your job to recover him first. Other than finding the Prothean, named Javik, there’s nothing revolutionary to be experienced here. It’s a standard case of “Go activate this terminal, …

Far Cry 3 gets a new patch today, resets outposts and gets harder

The calls from the fans have been heard and Ubisoft has responded by dishing up a patch for the brilliant, Far Cry 3. It’s available right now on PS3 and 360 and amongst other things, it resets the outposts on Rook Island so you can have fun trying to tactically take them down all over again.
